2021 Re-opening and Model & Book Sale

Forgive us for not updating the web site – we do update our Facebook page much more often!

RE-OPENING 12th JUNE 2021

Please note these are PROVISIONAL DATES and may be subject to change!

Thanks to the new roadmap the Sywell Aviation Museum is pleased to announce that it will formally reopen on Saturday 12th June 2021 at 1030hrs. On that day we won’t have our usual ‘grand opening’ it will be more of a ‘soft’ opening on an informal basis rather than with the usual razamatazz. Space as ever is limited.

To help us celebrate our reopening we’re really pleased to announce that our mate and Honorary Member, Peter Teichman will be bringing his unique Russian Supermarine Spitfire MK.IX PT879 which only flew for the first time before Xmas after an epic restoration!

The Museum will then be open as usual every weekend and bank holiday between 1030-1630hrs and also on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 1200-1600hrs until the end of September.

We will have COVID restrictions in place so we would ask you to continue to use hand santizer on entry and exit and wear a face covering unless you are exempt from doing so. Entry is free but we welcome your donations.

BUT THERE’S MORE – MODEL AND BOOK SALE 22nd MAY 2021

On Saturday 22nd May 2021 we will be hosting a BOOK AND MODEL SALE in the Museum car park between 1000-1400hrs. There will be no access to the Museum that day however (pretty much like last year’s sale in July). We have a large collection of books for sale by donation along with some model kits and diecast aeroplanes… if you are one of the kind people who has been hoarding stuff for us obviously we’ve been unable to collect them due to lockdown. When the rules are relaxed next month we should be able to try and organise collection failing which we would welcome their drop off at the Museum either on sale day (bring and buy!?) or afterwards.

PLEASE NOTE however that these two planned dates are subject to both the aerodrome being open again and government guidance at the time so may be subject to change… also Pete’s attendance is subject to weather and serviceability. If it’s tipping down on the 22nd May we may have to move inside! Please keep an eye on this page for the latest news as the dates approach.

Can we please thank all of you for your kind support, either by paypal donations to sywellaviationmuseum@gmail.com or your brilliant comments on this page which have kept us going during the dark days of lockdown.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
